One Small Change

Officially into 'warm up' round. Each week we are given small tasks in order to prepare us for the big 12 weeks, kicking off Monday the 19th of November!

This weeks' challenge is to make one small change. I have decided my one 'small' change is to only drink water and herbal tea - no sugary drinks. That means goodbye soft drink, goodbye milkshakes and goodbye to my beloved boost juice. How on earth will I survive? This isn't really a small change to me... this is a HUGE change. Well.. here is my motivation for drinking water:

So I did my research...

Apparently - water is the best moisturising agent for you skin, drinking the recommended 8 glasses a day will not only hydrate you, but also leave your skin looking fantastic.

Water gets rid of all the nasties in your body - filters out all the unwanted bacteria and prevents infections and diseases.

Water also decreases anxiety? What the?! Myself, who suffers quite a bit of anxiety was really interested in this... apparently drinking 4-6 glasses of water each day will prevent anxiety attacks. Water flushes away toxins that creates depression, stress, anxiety and panic attacks. Dehydration can actually trigger an anxiety attack. Who new? I sure didn't.

There you go! This has definitely spiked my motivation to drink more water. So hence, that is my small big challenge for this week - water only. Think I can do it? I'll keep you posted.

  1. I didn't realise the good water can do re anxiety either! Very interesting! I try to drink lots of it anyway but my small change is whole fruit only as a snack between meals!

  2. Awesome to hear about the benefits of water beyond just keeping us hydrated. Thanks heaps! 2L of water a day is my small change for this warm-up challenge as well. So far so good, but boy am I making more trips to the ladies' room.

Louise, your fruit goal sounds great!

  3. Hi Kate,
I was wondering how you were going with the challenges so far. Did you reach 30km this week? I look forward to reading about how you are going.

  4. Hi Kate,
I promise I'm not stalking you. I enjoyed reading your blog posts so thought I'd check in. I hope everything is ok and you are on track to start the official round of 12wbt tomorrow. If not, is there anything I can help with? (I'm not an expert by any means!)
Just want you to know you have a random-stranger supporting you and you can do this!
